Application of Barkhausen’s Method in Analyzing the Stress State in the F500/410x45 mm Hot Rolled Ring

The objective of this study was to characterize residual stress state in steel rings using a specially designed electronic device for measuring Barkhausen noise. The analysis of magnetization current sweep characteristics in different stress conditions has been carried out. It has been shown that Barkhausen stress measurement method based
on magnetization sweep function itself can provide a fast and reliable diagnostic tool for residual stress characterization in ferromagnetic materials. The circumferential residual stress state and the radial distribution heterogeneity in hot rolled ring with indication of the extreme points have been experimentally studied.
