An innovation student project analyzed the usage of drum brakes in vehicles. The main aim of the project was to redesign and improve the brakes to reduce noise emissions. Linde’s method (“Direction Search”) was successfully applied to identify improvement possibilities. The noise generation problem could be solved with the TRIZ Function Model and Problem Formulation.
