The article shows the role of phonological typology in the development of a model of teaching phonetics of the modern Russian language to Korean-speaking students on the basis of comparison of the sound organisation of Russian and Korean words in the phonetic and phonological aspects. For this purpose, in particular, typological analysis of the Russian and Korean language systems is performed. The basis is the categories of voicedness-voicelessness and hardness-softness in Russian words.
