The article’s focus is on the formation of some words characteristic of younger people vocabulary that reflect new social types of modern Japanese society. Currently, a lot of new social types are constantly emerging in Japan due to the accelerated tempo of life, advances in computer technologies, and an increasing role of mass media. These
social types are yet to find their formal definitions in the Japanese language. Young people are usually the first to react by creating the new words that the older generation doesn’t understand. They use such derivation methods as: borrowing the words from another language, abbreviations and reductions of the words, compounding words, etc.
Some of these words eventually become part of the colloquial Japanese language.
