bodies in modern Russia. Environmental protection and rational use of natural resources is a complex and multifaceted problem. The article outlines the key shortcomings of the current system of legal protection and regulation of water objects of various forms of ownership and different economic purposes; provides guidance on effective division of responsibilities of state control over environmental conditions in the city. The article also raises issues regarding complex water bodies that are outside the boundaries of the city, which complicates the legal regulation and control of these facilities. Special attention is given to the protection of water rights of citizens, the order to protect the rights of water users, and difficulties in the prosecution of legal entities and individuals who commit offenses in the field of water and environmental legislation.
