The article is devoted to the influence of the intertextuality category on plot development
in Terry Pratchett’s novels. The main type of intertextual connections in the first two
novels of the series “Discworld” – “The Colour of Magic” and “The Light Fantastic” – is
a parody of cult fantasy novels. Intertextual connections underlie the plot development
implementing the text-forming function. The main intertextual elements are caricaturing, various parody transformations, pastiche, reminiscence, and allusion.
