“His works were filled with gratitude”: Leo Tolstoy’s personality and art in Protopresbyter Alexander Schmemann’s diaries

The article is dedicated to the reception of Leo Tolstoy’s works in the diaries of the
famous liturgist, theologian, heir to the Russian religious and philosophical tradition,
Protopresbyter Alexander Schmemann. Schmemann’s attitude to Tolstoy’s religiousness, the dialectics of genius and talent, mind and heart in the personality and works of the Russian writer is analysed in the article.
