The author of the paper examines the role of notaries in evidence in a civil and arbitration process. The notion of notaries is defined as subjects assisting courts in the administration of justice. Particular attention is paid to detecting the potential of notaries aimed at extrajudicial protection of rights and legitimate interests of citizens and legal entities, which is particularly evident in the notarial act of securing evidence. The evidentiary function of notaries and prospects for its development are analysed.
