The article touches upon the importance of reading authentic fairy tales by young learners. Reading an authentic fairy tale, pupils are involved in cross-cultural communication as they familiarise themselves with the worldview of the fairy tale, in which the national peculiarities of thinking and behaviour of native speakers are depicted. To remove linguistic and cultural difficulties, pre-text, intra-text and post-text commentary is used, whose aim is disclosed in the article.
