The article investigates the means of artistic expression of the Russian idea in F.
Dostoevsky’s novel “The Adolescent”. Thorough observation of the novel’s poetics
allowed the author to come to conclusions that significantly expand the currently
available understanding of the novel. It is shown that the main means of expressing the Russian idea is a system of images, part of them having a complex symbolic meaning.
