Chinese traditional painting guohua is the quintessence of Chinese arts, while porcelain is the glory of Chinese culture. They complement each other like twins. For a long time people equated porcelain with Chinese traditional painting. After a thousand years of interaction, guohua and porcelain decoration obtained common features, moreover, the combination of the two strengthened the position of Chinese porcelain art. However, this combination formed special cultural characteristics, aesthetic orientations, and an integral artistic system. Revealing the distinctions between Chinese traditional painting and porcelain decoration, the author of the paper carries out a brief analysis of the influence of guohua on the development of porcelain painting.
