COLLECTOR VALUE OF THE MAO PORCELAIN FROM THE CITY OF LILING

Huang Wan
Price: 50 руб.
The naming of Guan kiln (offi cial kiln) traced back to the late Northern Song Dynasty
(960–1127 AD). The Guan kilns assembled talents and efforts throughout the nation
and made the names of Ru Kiln, Ge Kiln, Ding Kiln and Jun Kiln, etc. In the era of the
Republic of China (1912–1949), the Guan kilns no longer existed, except for Hongxian
Porcelain that appeared during the 100-day rein of Yuan Shih-Kai (December 12th, 1915 – March 22nd, 1916), but it made a limited contribution to the glory of the Guan kilns. In 1949, when the P. R. China was found, the Red Guan Kiln came forth and exerted a great impact to the porcelain world, featuring famous Mao porcelain. On June 20th, 2013 a set of fi ve Mao porcelain pieces was sold for RMB 8 million at Poly Auction Hong Kong. The collector value of the outstanding porcelain items, created on political request under special historical conditions, is worth of being studied.
Key words: Mao Zedong, Liling, fi ve-colour underglaze porcelain, Guan kiln, decoration, collection.
