The article is devoted to D. Shostakovich’s choral cycle “Ten Poems on Text by Revolutionary Poets” of the late 19th – early 20th centuries, op. 88, for mixed choir a cappella, which was composed in 1951. This music work gave rise to a variety of statements in the domestic musicology. Particular attention was focused on the interpretation of the cycle dramaturgy. Regarding the ambiguous assessment of the opus, the author of the paper considers the work in order to identify compositional features that infl uenced the diversity of performing and musicological interpretations of the Ten Poems.
