Cognitive-compensatory approach in intensive second foreign language reading

This article is devoted to the situation in the field of intensive second foreign language
reading at senior specialised schools and liberal arts universities. The author proposes his way to optimise this segment of language activity by formation of compensatory competence. The methodology is based on the cognitive-compensatory approach taking into consideration the cognitive and creative components of mental activity of a student reading and decoding a text in a second foreign language without a dictionary.
