Socio-political processes in the late 20th century caused many language conversions. The most active new forms of social relations manifested in a variety of semantic changes. In this regard newspaper material is particularly demonstrative. The article deals with the research of active processes in Russian neology of the late 20th century: the nomination theory, semantics, and problems of the new verbal vocabulary functioning in the mass media language.
