The article covers the problem of adaptation of foreign students in the country of studying. The accent is made on the process of forming of the social-adaptive competency of foreign students attending preuniversity training courses. During the pedagogical experiment Turkmen students attending preuniversity training courses and a group of the Russian State Hydrometeorological University professors were questioned and tested. The results showed the need for creating certain conditions in Russian universities aiming to improve the effectiveness of foreign students’ adaptation process.
