The article is devoted to the folk concepts of diseases, according to which diseases are
considered as a result of spirits’ invasion. The author investigates the semantics of these diseases. Special attention is paid to the altered psycho-physiological states of ill people. These states are a way of interaction with the other world. Disease is also considered as a special strategy of behaviour.
