The issue of the perception of various cultural products of the mass media by a modern
person is raised in the paper in the context of the philosophical and historical discourse.
The essential characteristics of the modern mass media and their impact on a person
are disclosed. The idea of diffrence between empirical and ontological person and the
reasons for the substantial change of his cultural consciousness are analysed. The author actualizes the idea of irrelative values in the process of continual free conscientious choice in man’s life: from socially determined to existentially predermining one.
