The article is devoted to the medical service in specialised institutions for the disabled and elderly in 1920–1930s, which was one of the main directions of the state social policy. The research is based on previously unpublished archival materials. Th article includes the following items: general characteristics of medical care, features of professional activities of medical workers in homes for the disabled in Siberia, disease nature of inhabitants, and the effiency of measures. In addition, the article deals with the relationships between the disabled and medical personnel. According to the results, the author makes conclusions about the quality of medical care in homes for the disabled.
