The history of lacquer in China extends back over 7 thousand years, it is the cradle of
lacquer manufacturing in the whole world. Lacquer manufacturing of Ancient China
is an important contribution of Chinese culture to the world civilisation. The main
attention in the paper is paid to the fie stages of the development of traditional lacquer
manufacturing in China; the features of lacquer manufacturing at diffrent historical
stages are distinguished. The study on these historical peculiarities is of considerable
historical and practical importance for modern research of lacquer manufacturing.
