The article is devoted to the transformation of gender-role requirements to household
work, outlined in Soviet society in the 1960s – early 1980s. Analysing the factors of the
gender roles change (behaviour, values, costs, effcts), the author comes to the conclusion about the diffrent pace and nature of changes characteristic of male and female roles in the second and partly third stages of the “gender transition”.
