Practice and innovations of using traditional materials in manufacturing modern
lacquer works are described in the paper; Japanese, Korean and European innovations
in application of these materials are analysed. The author shows that the innovations in
materials technology in Japan and Korea perfectly modernised the traditional lacquer
manufacturing and the usage of chemical lacquer by Europeans made a great contribution
to lacquer manufacturing. All these became a reason for new ideas on the development of
popular materials of lacquer manufacturing and their usage.
