“YING QINGQI” PORCELAIN SCULPTURE OF THE CITY OF JINGDEZHEN IN THE SONG DYNASTY EPOCH

Blue-green porcelain “ying qingqi”, which was manufactured in Jingdezhen in the times
of the Song Dynasty (960–1279), resembled nephrite and was praised by educated men in songs. Thre were a lot of various porcelain carving techniques in the city. Fretworks, sculpture methods and blue-green enamel resembling the nephrite colour – all these reflct the lively spirit of “ying qingqi” porcelain. Human fiures, for example Guanyin (the Mercy Goddess) or a bodhisattva, and porcelain funeral fiurines are the accurate portrayal of people, they follow the naturalness rules and reflct the unity of nature and man. Th Song Dynasty epoch is a peak of the development and a stage of the fial forming of “ying qingqi” porcelain making techniques, therefore, this period can
express the real content and features of the “ying qingqi” porcelain plastic art in the
best way.
