Parallel contexts with nominal Ѣ-forms are analysed in the article. The syntactic functions
and the quantitative dynamics of these forms in the ancient chronicles are described. The
author shows that the Ѣ-form used as a determinant of the verbal forms loses its relevance
and gives place to adverbs or other nominal case-forms in the ancient chronicles.
