Beijing opera is a treasure in Chinese traditional culture. It is genuinely Chinese art that is loved by the country’s native population, but it also spread all over the world. The historical heritage of Beijing opera – makeup and costume – is actively used and has a significant effect on modern designers. This paper is devoted to the integration of contemporary design and traditional costume and makeup. The author presents and analyses examples proving the occurrence of the traditional motives of Beijing opera in such modern design branches as graphic design, product design, and costume design.
