The basic approaches to technology transfer are considered in the paper, their
periodisation is carried out, the internal and external factors affecting the technology transfer are shown. The following types are identified in implementation of the policy aimed at technology transfer: initiators of technologies and their subsequent transfer, recipients of technologies, technology transfer conductors. The criteria and trends of the policy of technology transfer are viewed.
