Abstract. The article focuses on managers’ outfi ts created by P. Picasso for the ballet
“Parade” in 1917. They illustrate the cubist aesthetic approach to theatre scenography.
Garments demonstrate Picasso’s vision of acting techniques, plastique, images, and actors’
role in ballet. It is noted that Picasso’s costume experiments corresponded to the ideas of
futurism and constructivism, but were less radical. It is shown that satire and parody are the
main tools of the Picasso’s method. The infl uence of the theatre experience on the Picasso
art is indicated.
