Architectural Polychromy in the Space of a Modern City (the case of Khabarovsk)

Abstract. This article is devoted to the problem of forming the colour scheme of a modern
city. The relevance of the study is related to the preservation of the visually integral space
of cities. The author of the paper identifi es the main features of polychromy of the urban
environment, which are the basis of visual information content and aesthetic value. The
main focus of the work is on the integrated approach to building the polychromy of the
city. Three principles are studied: historical, functional-plastic and associative. The author
analyses the polychromy of Khabarovsk, where the key links in building the colouristic
specifi city of the city are the historical, natural, architectural and artistic aspects.
