Abstract. The article considers the “Portrait of F. I. Shalyapin” created by the outstanding Russian artist A. E. Yakovlev (1887–1938) in the sanguine drawing technique, whose creative work is on a par with the achievements of the most famous European artists of the 20th century. The stylistic, technical and technological features of A. Yakovlev’s drawing, which embodied the signifi cance and originality of the great singer’s acting skills with special expressiveness, are determined using the example of the study of the innovative artistic, plastic and substantial components of the “Portrait of F. I. Shalyapin”.
