Abstract. The article is devoted to a number of creative provisions of D. Rabinovich, who
is one of the founders of the performing branch of musicology. Having an inclination
towards systematisation and generalisations, Rabinovich in his work “The Performer and
Style” proposed an original classifi cation of pianistic styles. Using the work “Chopin and
the Chopinists” by Rabinovich, the author of the article makes an attempt to comprehend
the stylistic trends in modern piano performing in China.
