Abstract. The paper is devoted to the attribution of the unique furniture set designed by the architect V. P. Tavlinov. The history of the creation of the furniture set, as well as its design and artistic features are considered. Archival materials of this furniture set were found, analysed and published for the fi rst time. The author of the paper presents the examples of hall-type rooms of the 12th century — early 20th century, similar in their functional purpose and spatial organisation, as alleged prototypes of the compositional structure of the set. The author proposes a concept in which the composition of a furniture set is a model of the spatial organisation of the interior. The paper shows the prospect for the development of this concept.
