This article provides a brief description of the educational programme of musical
and movement activity in a water environment (pool), which is based on “The
Nutcracker” ballet by P. I. Tchaikovsky. The programme is designed for children of
preschool and primary school age. A new type of musical and movement activity in the
water environment is developed as an innovative health-saving technology of music
education. This technology is based on the integration of musical art and swimming
and contains extensive pedagogical and health-saving opportunities. The article reflects
the content of the educational programme, including the final presentation of the work
on “The Nutcracker” ballet. The programme includes the emotion-oriented approach to
understanding the musical content, which reveals the health-saving potential of “The
Nutcracker” ballet by P. I. Tchaikovsky, aimed at harmonising the psychoemotional state.
