The article deals with the problem of social adaptation of students coming from foreign
countries to study at Russian universities. Based on the empirical research data, it is
concluded that it is necessary to organise special psychological and pedagogical support for foreign students during their adaptation to the educational environment of a Russian
university, as well as to take into account the similarities and differences in the dynamics
of motivation for higher professional education among Russian and foreign students.
