The  article  analyses  modern  dissertation  research  by  Russian  scientists  on  the 
development of emotional intelligence in primary school children and indicates the 
main  methods  of  emotional  intelligence  development.  The  authors  describe  their 
programme on the formation and development of emotional intelligence intended for 
primary school pupils.
