The article discusses the problems of family and family values at the present stage of
society’s development. Family in modern society performs many functions and tasks.
Family as a social phenomenon at the present stage of society’s development is in a deep crisis, as the younger generation is changing views on family values, which are not as valuable concepts as before. Modern family is in a state of transition from old traditions and attitudes to life values to new ones, which entails breaking traditional stereotypes. The problem of understanding family values among cadets of military institutions is urgent and requires scienti来c analysis. For this purpose, a survey of 3rd- and 5th-year cadets at Saint Petersburg National Guard Forces Command Military Institute was conducted. The article clari来es the concepts of “family” and “family values”, presents the results of the survey, and draws conclusions about the degree of awareness of the importance of family values by cadets.
