Abstract. The article analyses the experience of using the constructive technique of
intersecting arches (according to the “gavit principle”), originating from Armenian medieval
architecture, in Russian architecture of the second half of the 19th century – 20th century and at the turn of the 21st century. The author considers the experience of understanding this constructive ceiling system in the practice of modern church construction.
