Abstract. The article raises the question of the use of musical opuses by Chinese composers in training future pianists and piano teachers within the framework of the higher education system of the People’s Republic of China. The relevance of introducing piano works by national composers into the educational repertoire of Chinese universities is considered. Teaching students based only on foreign material does not contribute to the growth of national consciousness and cultural identity. Future teachers should be well aware of their own roots and the musical heritage of their native country. Several practical recommendations are offered regarding the compilation of the educational repertoire and methodology for studying piano works by Chinese composers in Chinese universities.
