Abstract. New information about man, obtained as a result of the development of science, promoted the revision of a number of issues in the relationship between God and man. To substantiate theological formulas, many religious philosophers resorted to the synthesis of different branches of knowledge. An important part of the new search was the definition of the essence and nature of soul. An example of this dynamics is the synthetic concept of A. Pozov, who was a representative of the religious philosophy of the Russian diaspora of the 20th century. A. Pozov’s theory demonstrates how well-established theological patterns transformed under the influence of scientific progress. At the same time, there are conceptual traditional foundations of religious and philosophical thought in his works. Thus, the synthetic concept of the soul in A. Pozov’s anthropology can be regarded as a result of the fusion of traditional concepts of religious and philosophical thought and the influence of scientific discoveries of the 20th century. Among other things, A. Pozov’s works trace the prerequisites for the formation of Christian psychology.
