Abstract. The article is devoted to the topical problem of implementation of mentoring dur-
ing the pedagogical practice of students. The authors analyse psychological, pedagogical
and methodological sources on the development of mentoring and the formation of students’
need to engage in professional activities. The approaches and principles of organisation of
mentoring that contribute to the professional adaptation of students are substantiated. The authors present an example of a plan for the implementation of a mentoring programme
during the pedagogical practice of chemistry students at Herzen Pedagogical University.
The article contains an example of a task for self-analysis and self-assessment of students’
activities during the pedagogical practice. The authors describe the pedagogical experiment
data, which prove the effectiveness of the organisation of the interaction between a mentor
and mentees.
