Abstract. The article discusses the concept of Newspeak in the context of the cognitive and discursive approach. The author characterises different levels of the existence of the modern Newspeak and shows the continuity and uniqueness of the Newspeak of the 21st century. Newspeak is a multi-level system of intersection of discourses, which can be presented according to different criteria: online – offline communication; the language of power, media, intellectual elites; official – unofficial discourse (Internet comments). The modern Newspeak is a combination of Internet language and ideological language. Newspeak should be understood as a special case of modern discourse and at the same time its important element; a way of simultaneously interpreting and constructing reality; an example of a quasi-political language manifesting a political topic or politicising a non-political topic.
