The relevant issue of computer game addiction is studied both theoretically and empirically in terms of the existential approach, having considerable resources for understanding of the phenomenon’s psychological aspects. The author uses authorial diagnostic procedures to examine the ontological security of World of Warcraft players. The obtained results demonstrate that ontological security decreases, while ontological insecurity increases, as the gaming technological way of existence-in-the-world starts to dominate.
Key words: embodiment, ontological security and its experience, gaming technological
way of existence-in-the-world, ontological security diagnostic procedures.
