This article is devoted to the work of an outstanding representative of Russian literary
postmodernism, writer and conceptualist Vladimir Sorokin. The object of the scientifi
research is a specifi and traditional for Sorokin’s prose method that Russian critics named
“transformation”, “deconstruction” of narration. The aim of the scientifi research is to
fid out the ways of this method’s realisation and its functions in the text. Sorokin’s story
“Nastya” which opens his novel “Pir” (“The Feast”) has been chosen for the material of
the research; this text shows an example of literary evolution since here Sorokin’s method
of deconstruction of narration changes its initial function (deconstruction of text) and
becomes very important for the whole text organisation and fially turns out to be a
semantics modifir.
Key words: narration, deconstruction (of narration), transformation.
