The author of the article analyses the relationship between the development of the forest economic sector and protection of the environment, as well as problems of including the cost-effient use of forest resources and achievement of the desired quality of the forest environment into the system of economic indicators. The author also describes features of the formation of forest income and environmental costs of production in terms of environmental constraints in the Baikal natural territory and factors affcting their size and structure. Th analysis will help to work out methods of negotiation on the development of the forest complex and forest conservation activities in the Republic of Buryatia.
