The defiitions of the canonical iconographic types of the Nativity image are given in
the article. Some peculiarities of the Nativity cathedral as an icon of the Nativity are
identifid. Th author correlates the iconographic analysis of the artifacts with their
symbolic interpretation and worship practice.
