The paper studies the essence of civic education in the modern national educational
conditions. Points of view of various experts on this issue are discussed. The author
emphasises the role of educational institutions that can create pedagogical conditions for the development of moral qualities, patriotism, readiness to defend the Fatherland, active life position of every student, involvement in creative and productive activities, ensuring their self-realisation in social and vocational activities. It is noted that the ultimate goal of the education of a citizen-patriot in modern conditions is the development of civil society, which is able to strengthen the rule of law actively and to solve social and economic problems of society. The author’s conclusions are presented and justified.
