The article considers the history of charitable institutions that functioned under Saint
Petersburg German Evangelical Lutheran churches from the second half of the 19th
century till 1918. Special attention is paid to the types of aid to adults in need. The
structure of functioning of similar institutions is shown through the example of the
shelter for women under St. Anne’s Lutheran church.
