Dramatic verse is a special phenomenon not only of literature, but also of the performing arts. Its specificity is an indissoluble unity of a stage action and a rhythmic verse structure. Therefore, it is necessary to study dramatic verse relying on the theatre practice, because dramatic verse is based on a scenic action. Only being played on stage, a verse play gets the fullness of sounding. Dramatic verse helps acting, moreover, verse defines acting. A word here has a value only if it carries an actual action. The correct understanding of dramatic verse helps an actor to embody properly the hero’s image and to express the author’s intent on stage as accurately as possible.
