The paper is devoted to the romantic tendencies in culture at the turn of the 19th century, which appeared in medicine alongside the theories based on philosophical speculations. The lack of sufficient empirical data, their generalisation and systematisation for the creation of these theories allows the author to consider them as non-classical ones. These theories show the critical direction of thought towards the classical scientific knowledge and at the same time perform the role of brilliant intuitions.
