On the basis of a fi eld ethnographic material, collected in 2004–2009 during the comprehensive ethnographic survey of migrants from the Caucasus in the Republic of Mordovia in 2004–11, the article analyzes the factors, strategies, problems and risks of ethno-cultural adaptation of the migrants from the South Caucasus in a new ethnic environment. The article also focuses on the ethnic identity of migrants, as well as the
integration potential of the second and third generations of migrants.
