Abstract. In modern psychological and pedagogical literature, studies of parents’ self-actualisation are mainly associated with parents of children with disabilities and with the maternal attitude to the child. The authors of the article show the importance of the study of parents’ self-actualisation as a factor in the development of cognitive initiative of primary school children. The purpose of the article is to analyse parents’ self-actualisation, identify and describe the factors influencing the development of cognitive initiative of younger schoolchildren. As a result of the factor analysis, a model with three factors was obtained: an adequate system of self-attitude and self-assessment of parents (autosympathy), self-confidence and a sufficiently high level of development of communication skills. The article describes in detail the identified factors in the context of child-parent relations, which have a positive impact on the high level of cognitive initiative in educational activities of primary school children.
